The Mitsubishi Raider is a great truck/pick-up with great handling, powerful engine, comfortable seats and impressive utility capabilities. The Raider is Mitsubishi’s first V8 powered pick-up and built side-by-side with the Dodge Dakota by DaimlerChrysler.
This relationship lies to only with the underpinnings; the Raider’s exterior is all-in-all Mitsubishi. The overall styling is aggressive with fender flares, thin upper grill and think lower bumper.
Powered by the standard 210-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 or the optional 230-horsepower 4.7-liter V8. Both engines can be ordered with both trim levels give consumers the ability to buy exactly what they want. The Raider drives with car-like manner due to its independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering.
Interior space is spacious and features storage compartments under the rear seats. Comfort is the primary focus by Mitsubishi designers; options included heated cloth or leather seats, steering wheel audio controls, satellite radio and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. The cheap plastics used in the interior defeat these luxury add-ons.
In terms of utility, the Raider does not match the Frontier, it does not have long-bed options, and the ride is not as refined as the Tacoma. The raider makes up for this, as it is easy to drive and comes with a long 5-year warranty.
The Mitsubishi Raider is quiet inside at any speed, with the engine giving out a nice V8 grunt when accelerated hard. Off-road and on-road handling is excellent while the Raider’s shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system gives good traction on rough terrain.
