The new Honda City is probably the most successful model marketed by Honda in the ASEAN region. It is a bold new model, featuring what many Honda fans consider a futuristic design that is based largely on the lines of the highly successful Honda Jazz.
The City was originally launched in only 1 variant, what has now come to be called the City i-DSI featuring the new 1.5liter, i-DSI engine. Later, Honda Asia launched a new variant, the Honda City 1.5liter, VTEC.
On the new City VTEC, the main focus of attraction is the VTEC engine. It is rated for 110ps compared to 88ps of the i-DSI, and has 4 extra valves. The VTEC engine has the same basic design, but is now optimized for maximum possible power output without sacrificing too much in fuel economy. The City VTEC in Malaysia comes with an excellent CVT-7 gearbox. This gearbox fully exploits the characteristics of the VTEC engine and offers a more 'sporty' drive.
In exterior design, the most significant changes are the new design of the exterior (new front grille, new headlamps, new fog lights, new taillights and bumpers). The front end has been extended forward by 65mm while the rear has been extended by 15mm. Both the i-DSI and VTEC models have 15" alloy rims as standard equipment.
Used with sensible common-sense, the City can be a very fast means of getting around in all sorts of roads and conditions including high-speed cruising. It will deliver plenty of driving enjoyment to you.
