The Honda Prelude is a sport coupe best suited for buyers looking for an optimal blend of sport, comfort and technology. It provides a balanced approach to performance and comfort, excellent refinement and build quality, along with Honda’s reputation for durability and reliability.
Honda introduced the current Prelude in 1997 and has made only minor changes since then. It comes with a powerful 2.2-liter VTEC engine and a sophisticated suspension that provides capable handling and a comfortable ride quality. The current Prelude's most interesting feature is the optional Active Torque Transfer System, or ATTS. ATTS is designed to give the Prelude enhanced rear-wheel-drive-like cornering ability. In a tight corner, the system works by increasing torque to the outboard front wheel. This gives the driver better steering response.
The Prelude is available as a two-door sport coupe only. You can choose between two different models: base and SH. Base Preludes come with features like air conditioning; power windows, cruise control; a moonroof, and a single CD audio player. The Prelude SH is equipped to the same level but has ATTS and a rear spoiler.
The car's dash has features like climate control sliders and a classic Honda analog gauge package. Rear passengers will feel the lack of room. Being a true coupe, the Prelude has a small trunk. The rear seatbacks fold forward to expand cargo volume.
Even when compared to newer sport coupes, the Honda Prelude impresses. It's easy to drive in all situations, has great outward visibility, and works well as an everyday car.
