The Airwave is an estate that is designed to take the whole family and the pet for a ride. In spite of this, the Airwave gets a rather aggressive and sporty design for a vehicle of this category.
Styling is clearly one of this car’s strong points. Apart from the sporty accents on the exterior, the interior has the same atmosphere. There is a nicely curved dashboard. All the elements like the on-board computer, the GPS and the air-conditioning are easily accessible. The 7-speed gearbox provides another sporty look to the package. The materials used on the inside are easy to clean. This is especially suited for families with babies.
Performance wise, the 1.5 VTEC engine is quite decent. The light weight helps; the Airwave is probably 3/4 the weight of a regular MPV. However, the car really is a family vehicle, so the emphasis was put on the interior space, the level of comfort and the pleasure that the Sky Roof brings, and not on the engine. The acceleration is not exactly mind-blowing; only if you switch to the "Sport" mode, it improves a little. If you want a really powerful estate, you should consider some other vehicles in this category.
The Airwave gives a fuel consumption of 11 km per liter. The interiors are spacious, as expected from a family estate. The trunk is very spacious, and you can drop the rear seats to free up more space. Overall, it is the perfect vehicle for relaxed journeys with the whole family.
