RAV4 is redesigned for 2006, getting new styling, the most powerful engine in its class, and 3rd-row seating for seven-passenger capacity. It is available in Base, Sport, and Limited models.
The cars come with front-wheel drive or with all-wheel drive. Two engines are offered: a 166-HP 4-cyl and 269-HP V6, RAV4's first V6. Both engines come only with automatic transmission. With such a powerful engine, it is no surprise that the RAV4 can hit 60mph in just 6.3 seconds.
The RAV4 is up by 21 percent in interior volume from the last generation. It now has an available third row seat for two small children. The low dash and windows play a big part in the impression of sitting lower than you do. Toyota has provided three 12-volt power outlets, ten cupholders, and a secondary glovebox that opens and closes by holding down a non-electrical button. RAV4 is the first Toyota to offer MP3/WMA playback or an Aux input jack as standard. Also, the 9-speaker JBL upgrade provides music with great clarity and depth. RAV4 is the first mainstream Toyota to receive electric power steering. This makes its steering controls a perfect feel.
The RAV4 starts at $20,905 for the 2WD, four cylinder version. The Limited 4WD v6 model will cost you $26,475. You can purchase optionals like side body and head airbags for $650. The moonroof and JBL stereo are optional on upper models. If you need a compact SUV, the RAV4 is the best that money can buy.
