The Toyota Wish was first launched in early 2003 in Japan under a massive publicity campaign. Marketed under the Wish Come True slogan, it quickly became a huge success in a segment that had Honda Stream and Nissan Liberty as its competitors. The car featured in the best sellers chart regularly, no mean feat for an MPV.
The 2006 Wish is essentially similar to the original car. There are only a few cosmetic changes that have been made by the company. Toyota has added a deeper front bumper and large air scoop. In addition, the new bonnet molding is smoke-plated. To enhance the sporty look, an original Toyota aerokit is installed. It has integrated spoilers for the front and rear bumpers, over-fenders and a rear roof spoiler.
The Wish comes with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine. It is the proven 1AZ-FE direct-injection, VVT-i engine that produces 155PS of power and 192Nm of torque. The engine is mated with a four-speed automatic transmission, and Super ECT for better fuel efficiency. The car does not come with manual transmission.
For safety, the Wish is provided with dual front SRS airbags. It also has Antilock Brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Brake Assist, and Vehicle Stability Control. The car meets Toyota’s tough safety standards, which prevent the impact force of an accident from harming the occupants.
The seven-seater Wish is the ideal vehicle for carrying your family. It comes with a factory warrant of three years. Priced at $23,200 for the 2WD model, the Wish is definitely a “wish come true”.
