The Toyota Fortuner is a mid-size sport-utility vehicle. The Fortuner comes in five models, with 4x4 and 4x2 options in manual, automatic, petrol and diesel. Trim levels are G and G Luxury for rear-wheel drive diesel and gasoline, and V for four-wheel drive diesel and gasoline. The Toyota Fortuner is the SUV incarnation of Toyota’s IMV platform, which stands for International Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle. The Fortuner has already been introduced in Asian countries like India and the Philippines.
The Fortuner is available with either a 2.7 Petrol engine, a 4.0 liter V6 engine, or a 3.0 Turbodiesel engine. The 2.7 liter engine is the 2TR-FE, which is a 4 cylinder twin cam 16V engine. It produces 160PS at 5200rpm and 241Nm torque at 3800rpm. The engine features VVT-i technology. The availability of engine options is different in different countries.
The Fortuner blends luxury with safety in a perfect manner. It has driver and passenger front airbags, Antilock Braking System, Emergency Brake Assist System, and central locking. The Fortuner’s torque sensitive, Limited Slip Differential helps to avoid skidding in slippery conditions.
The interiors give a luxurious feel. The dashboard design is more generic, quite the same as the Innova and Hilux, but with different trim levels used to portray a different feel. There is a multi-purpose display above the center console of the dashboard that can be programmed to show different types of information.
The Fortuner is an all-purpose, all-conditions package that will look good in different conditions. It blends style with economy, at a reasonable price ($98,888 for the 2.7).
