The 2006 Toyota Sequoia is a four-door, up to 8-passenger sports-utility vehicle. At almost 204 inches long, it is even longer than Toyota’s Land Cruiser SUV. Available in SR5 and upscale Limited versions, the Sequoia is priced lower than Toyota's luxurious Land Cruiser.
There are just a couple of changes in the Sequoia from its 2005 version. It now has new second-row bucket seats in the SR5 Sport Package, and revised engine output figures. The Sequoia's 4.7-liter, V-8 engine produces 273 HP and 314 pounds-feet of torque. It is accompanied by a five-speed-automatic transmission. The V-8 uses Toyota's variable valve timing with intelligence system (VVT-i).
The Sequoia has a capacity for seating up to eight people. In the Limited model, you can enjoy the pleasures of heated front row seats, leather seats, and a premium 10-speaker JBL stereo system. The interiors are spacious, with space for a lot of luggage, along with the passengers.
On the safety front, you get Toyota’s standard safety devices. Antilock Brakes, Vehicle Skid Control and the Vehicle Stability System keep the Sequoia in safe hands. All the seating positions have three-point seat belts. You can go for optional front-side and side-curtain airbags for all three rows of seats.
The Sequoia is a pleasure to drive. It offers a smooth ride, with handling on par with most large SUVs. The SR5 model starts at $36,300. You should consider buying the Sequoia if you have a large family, and fuel economy is not much of an issue.
