The 2006 Toyota Truck Tundra is a 2- or 4-door, up to 6-passenger full size pickup truck. The 2006 Toyota Tundra is available in regular, extended- (Access Cab) and crew-cab (Double Cab) versions.
Regular cabs come only as long beds, while Access and Double Cabs come only as short beds. Access Cabs have reverse-opening rear doors for easier rear-seat access, while Double Cabs feature four full-size doors. There are three trim levels: base, SR5 and Limited.
Two types of dual-overhead-cam engines are available on the Toyota Tundra: a 4.0-liter V6 and a 4.7-liter V8. The V6 makes 236 HP and 266 pound-feet of torque, while the V8 musters 271 HP and 313 pound-feet of torque. The V6 comes with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. The V8 is offered with the five-speed automatic transmission only. The Limited Double Cab version is fitted with the V8, while the Regular model is equipped with the V6 engine.
In government safety-crash testing, the Tundra scored four stars for driver protection, and five stars for front passenger safety. It comes equipped with Antilock Braking System. Side-impact airbags for front occupants and full-length side curtain airbags are optional on the Double Cab version.
The Tundra is available in some funky colors, including Phantom Grey Pearl, Salsa Red Pearl, and Spectra Blue Mica. The price for the Limited four door double cab version starts at $30,425. If you have to drive a pickup truck everyday, or need to tow heavy stuff, the Tundra is the right choice for you.
