The Toyota Sienta is a small, four-door minivan with sliding doors, sold only in Japan. Introduced in September 2003, it can seat up to seven people. Given the compact styling of the car, this is quite amazing. Its styling features are similar to the Renault Twingo.
The Sienta is equipped with a 1.5 liter engine and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) in 2WD models, or an ECT (Electronic Controlled Transmission) with 4WD. The 4WD is more of a road-duty technology vehicle, utilizing limited slip controls using electronics. The Sienta shares the same engine with the outgoing made-in-Japan Corolla 1.5 XLi. Other components are also shared with the 1.5 Vios. The only item that is unique in this vehicle is the CVT gearbox. The engine is a 16 valve, overhead cam shaft type (DOHC). It gives a mileage of approximately 15km/liter (when driving is 20% city and 80% highway).
The Sienta is a compact MPV with the room of full-size MPV. Getting in and out of the car is a breeze. You can fold and hide the third row seat away to create a huge luggage room. It is available in a wide range of colors, including Light Yellow, Lavender Metallic, Pearl Crystal Shine, Super Red, Aqua Metallic, and Blue. It has five doors.
The cost of the 2WD version is $19,300, while the 4WD is priced at $21,300. The Sienta also features ultra-low emission levels that satisfy year 2010 fuel-efficiency standards. This qualifies the vehicle for incentives under the Japanese government’s Green Tax program.
