The Toyota Estima is an MPV, sold only in Japan. Since its launch, the Toyota Estima has proved to be one of the most popular new vehicles. In June 2006, Toyota introduced a new hybrid version of the Estima. The Estima Hybrid exceeded its first month's sales target by almost seven times.
The Estima is equipped with many innovative features. It has a stylish interior cabin. The interior is accented by a high-tech-looking central panel, and ‘club-style’ second-row seats. It is also equipped with power folding third-row seats, enabling a complete transformation of the interior, from luxury MPV to spacious minivan at the touch of a button.
The Estima is a fuel-efficient vehicle (about 47mpg), which is surprising for a seven-seater minivan. Its exhaust emissions are also down by 75 percent from the 2005 levels. It is powered by a 2.4 liters gasoline engine (147 HP) and, depending on the configuration, either one or two electric motors (105 kW in the front and 50 KW in the back). There are both rear-wheel and front-wheel drive variants, as well as manual and electronic transmissions.
The Estima offers superb entertainment options. It is fitted with a full-length NXT-enabled roof liner to dramatically enhance the sound. Two separate sound systems, built around the NXT-equipped roof liner, are available. These are the Estima Panoramic Super Live System (11 loudspeakers), and Panoramic Live Sound System (8 loudspeakers).
The Estima Hybrid is truly a car of the future. It is possibly the most useful family car ever built by Toyota.
