The Toyota Alphard was the sixth hybrid vehicle rolled out by Toyota. It is being sold in Japan since 2003. The Alphard Hybrid Minivan has the Toyota Hybrid System-CVT (continuously variable transmission), and a 2.4-litre gasoline engine. Further, it has a high-output hybrid battery pack and an E-Four electric four-wheel drive system. The E-four drive system optimizes the supply of power to all four wheels, providing a better driving experience.
The Alphard qualifies as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV), achieving extremely low emission levels. It can generate up to 1,500 watts of power, and is equipped with standard 100-volt AC power outlets, allowing a wide range of appliances to be used. The Alphard also provides a mileage of about 42 mpg. The newly developed two-way compressor optimizes the use of the air conditioner, thereby conserving fuel.
The Alphard Hybrid come with some newly developed safety features. The first is a Blind Corner Monitor, which tells you about any pedestrians or vehicles coming around a blind corner. There is also a Back Guard monitor and Lane Monitoring System. These features are in addition to the standard Antilock Braking System, airbags, and seat belts with pre-tensioners.
The interior cabin is spacious comfortable. The level of comfort is equal to that of the Lexus and Mercedes limousines. There is enough space to seat seven or eight people. This, combined with the convenience of advanced functional amenities, makes the Alphard a very logical choice for buyers. The 2.4 liter, 2WD model comes with a price tag of $34,200.
