The Toyota Celica is a sports coupe. It is widely known for its rally racing prowess. The Celica has undergone many changes over the years. The 2006 Celica is part of the seventh generation of Celica cars.
The Celica comes in two versions, the GT and the GT-S. The former is powered by a 1.8 liter, four cylinder engine, which produces 140HP. The GT-S has a higher performance engine, which provides 180 HP of power. Both these engines have Toyota’s VVT-I technology. The 140HP version is tepid, but still has enough power to provide fun. The 180HP makes Celica a genuine sports coupe, but delivers strong performance in the upper quarter of its rev range. The GT-S has a more aggressive system called the VVTL-i (Variable Valve Timing with Lift and Intelligence), which is similar to the VVT-i except until 6200 rpm, when valve lift is increased further to provide an increase in power.
Both the Celica models have four airbags. It also has remote central locking and an anti-theft device, which immobilizes the car. The GT-S model is provided with traction control as well.
The interior styling is pretty decent. The boot is quite spacious for a coupe. There is adequate leg space, but only for the front passengers. Toyota could also have given some more head room, especially for tall people.
Priced at $22,875 for the GT-S model, the Celica is a fairly reasonable deal. However, if you go for some of the optional features, (like JBL stereo and Antilock Braking) the price goes up to $25,000.
