The Almera is a well-built mini-MPV that's good to drive because of its precise handling, good fuel economy and a comfortable interior. It's competitively priced and well equipped.
On the inside, the Almera has a quality feel reminiscent of something much more expensive. The interior is filled with clever touches. There is a centre console glovebox with a tissue holder built into the lid. A 12v power socket is mounted on the console. Storage spaces are aplenty; there are over 20 around the interior, ranging from a washable rear garbage holder to front door pockets. Driver's seat is comfortable and adjustable, steering wheel adjusts for height. You might feel that the Dash looks old fashioned and that there is too much black plastic.
The car comes in various trim levels. E has a height adjustable driver's seat, radio/cassette, rear headrests. S adds a centre rear headrest. Sport also has front fog lamps, remote central locking, and a traffic information system. SE adds to S trim with active front headrest, traffic information system. SE+ adds alloys, front fog lights, leather covered steering wheel, and a six-CD auto-changer.
The engine choices are a 1.5 liter petrol, 1.8 liter petrol and 2.2 liter diesel. The latter is available with 112bhp and 136bhp. The petrol engine gives a good economy of 42mpg. The handling is superb with plenty of grip and good feedback from the chassis. The light clutch and steering make the Almera effortless to drive around town. Overall, it is a simple car which comes with the promise of Nissan’s reliability.
