The Nissan Titan is Nissan’s first ever full-size truck. Nissan very deliberately gave the truck a bold appearance to drive home the fact that it is here to battle the “titans” of the industry, namely the F-150, Silverado, and Ram.
This engine earns Nissan the best-in-class maximum towing capacity of 9,500 pounds (vs. the Dodge Ram's 9,200, the Chevy Silverado's 8,000, and the Toyota Tundra's 7,100). Only the Ford F-150 matches up to it. The truck is powered by a 5.6-liter, DOHC V-8 that produces a substantial 305hp and 379 lb-ft of torque, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. In comparison, the F-150 range peaks at 300 hp, and both Ford and Chevy come with four-speed automatics.
The Titan's big V-8 accelerates smartly both from a standstill and at speed. The engine is noisier than the Toyota Tundra's, but it is more refined than the domestic competition. Titan's power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is hefty and precise. The Titan has far better body control than either the Dodge Ram or the Chevy Silverado.
The Titan King Cab’s cargo bed is 6-feet 7-inches long, while the Crew Cab’s is a foot shorter. Both variants can be equipped with an optional, factory-installed, spray-on bed liner. Bed dividers, sliding cargo trays, bicycle and kayak racks, and other accessories are also offered by Nissan dealers. A clever locking compartment is handy for storing small tools, gloves, and other emergency gear.
Titan is offered with a three-year/36,000-mile overall warranty. It is a truly competitive full-size pickup, with the power and refinement to challenge the best in the market.
