The 350Z is Nissan’s little princess and one of the best performance purchases on the US market.
The sports car is light and affordable and continues in this trend after its launch in 1990 of the 300ZX. Built on Nissan’s Front-Midship refers to the positioning of the engine, compared to most front-engine cars, where the weight is transferred directly on the front wheels, the 350Z Front-Midship engine is located further backwards putting the weight transfer further towards the rear of the front wheels. This improves high-speed handling and makes for one of the most exciting drives you can have in a sports car of this price range – despite the ever increasing number of competitors releasing performance cars in this price segment.
The 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 has variable timing and electronically controlled throttle with the standard manual close-ratio gearbox, and 287-horspower with the optional five-speed automatic featuring downshift rev matching.
Braking and safety features include 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS are standard on all models, with the two higher specifications getting an upgraded set of four-piston Brembo calipers. Side and head-protecting side curtain airbags are optional on all coupes.
The interior space is modern and naturally focused around the driver, which combines the latest technology with classic performance gauges all at the driver’s fingertips. Material specifications are only average.
Performance cars are typically stiff to change at lower city speeds, not so in the 350Z. Press on the accelerator and enjoy the sound of the V6 rumble into action and deliver its linear acceleration and rev range. Turn the corners and the car hugs the road surface and is easy to handle.
