The 2007 Ford Expedition is a 4-door, up to 9-passenger sport-utility, available in 12 trims, ranging from the XLT 4X2 to the EL Limited 4X4.
A standard 5.4-liter, V8 engine generates 300 horsepower to the vehicle, with 365 pound-feet of torque to help launch this large and heavy vehicle to highway speeds. It has a hauling capacity of up to 8,900 lbs. the Expedition is available only with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The Expedition comes with a double-wishbone suspension at all four corners. The new Expedition also boasts bigger, softer body mounts, which are quite noticeable when driving the vehicle. Along with these changes, the Expedition's frame is updated. Ford claims a 10-percent increase in both torsional rigidity and bending stiffness over the previous model.
The Expedition comes decently equipped, even its base form. You get power heated and cooled leather seats, power adjustable brake, and a reverse-sensing radar system to help make parking a bit easier. Choosing bench seats for the first and second rows and the optional third-row seat expands seating capacity to nine. Standard equipment on all Expeditions is an auxiliary input jack for the audio system. For safety, Safety Canopy airbags are now offered as stand-alone options. Four wheel disc antilock brakes with Brake Assist help bring the huge car to a stop without too many problems.
If you need a vehicle to carry eight people and tow 9000 pounds, the Expedition is a good choice. The standard-wheelbase models start at $29,995 and go all the way to $43,395 for the Expedition EL Limited.
