The F Series are a series of pickup trucks by Ford. The most popular variant of the F-Series is the F-150. It has been the best-selling vehicle in the world for 23 years and the best-selling truck in the United States for 28 years. Other models include the F-250 Super Duty and the F-350 Super Duty. These were introduced in 1999, and are bigger in dimension than the F-150. The F-150 Super Crew truck sells for $40,630.
The F-150 offers three engine choices: a 202-horsepower, 4.2-liter V6; a 231-hp, 4.6-liter V8; and a 5.4-liter, three-valve V8. The latter engine uses one of Ford’s existing modular short-blocks, but its aluminum cylinder heads hold three valves per combustion chamber. This engine is rated at 300 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 365 pound-feet of torque at 3750 rpm.
The F-150 has a beautiful cockpit, which is surprising for a pickup truck. Everything from the shape of the dashboard to the design of the instruments is first-rate. If you go for the top-of-the-line versions, you get an interior that is beautifully stitched with leather. Judging by its 3000-pound maximum payload and 9900-pound towing capacity, Ford has struck a perfect balance between comfort and utility with the F-150.
The Super Duty models have V-10 engines and 4x4 drive, comfortable interiors, and big capacity for towing and commercial applications. They are styled distinctly from the smaller Ford F-150 half-ton pickups. The new 2008 model will introduce a new twin-turbo, 6.4 Liter Power Stroke Diesel V8 engine to the replace the problematic 6.0 Liter Power Stroke Diesel V8.
