The Chevrolet Impala is completed redesigned for 2006. Chevrolet completely redesigned this model in hopes that it will be able to compete with the big boys in the midsize sedan class. This car has definitely made strides over its predecessor, and will be able to close the gap on some of the competition.
The biggest improvement over the past models is the ride quality. The new Impala offers a very smooth ride. This makes a trip in this car a breeze for both the driver, and his or her passengers. Wind, road, and engine noise has also been kept to a minimum in this car; again making for a very serene ride.
The main concern with the past model was interior build quality. Even though the Impala has improved in this area, Chevrolet has still not brought this car up to the standards of their foreign competition. The Impala is trying to shake the description of being unreliable due to poor build quality. They have improved on this in their latest offering, but still trail the Accord and Camry in overall refinement.
The Impala is offered in several different trims. The best thing about the new version is that they offer a V8 that has not been available for almost 10 years. If you opt for the large engine, which puts out 303 horsepower, you will surely be pleased with the performance. It will make you feel like it is 1964 all over again!
The newest version of the Chevrolet Impala has done a nice job of closing the gap on the leaders in the midsize sedan class. If Chevrolet continues to improve this car over the next few years, there is no reason that they should not be able to close in even more on the competition. Overall, this car offers a solid ride, as well as better build quality than past models.
