Cars: Fix it for Free! : Mises Fix It

A lot of people have cars, and a lot of people waste their money trying to maintain their cars as well. Maintaining a car isn’t really expensive if you do it yourself. But once you ask someone to maintain your car for you, you are then taking on an added expense. There’s just no way around that fact.

Mechanics, of course, are specialists in their line of work, in the same way that lawyers are experts at the law and doctors are experts in medicine. Unfortunately, becoming a mechanic is by no stretch of the imagination as hard as becoming a lawyer or a physician. In fact, most people don’t even go to school to do so, and there are few standardized methods to separate the best ones from the worst. In other words, you will most likely come across a mechanic who will do an absolutely dismal job with your car.

There’s an old saying that says: “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself”.  This is very true when it comes to car maintenance. For those who don’t have the inclination to learn about cars, getting a mechanic to do the dirty work for you is probably a good idea. However, if you have the desire to learn about cars, then you should probably refrain from doing so. It’ll take a bit of time and effort, but you will, like many others before you, soon be an expert on your own automobile. Then you’ll be able to fix your car for free, and save tons of money.
